Your bed-wetting questions, answered
As soon as you begin daytime toilet training. Even if your child is dry during the day, nights take longer. Most children are reliably dry overnight anywhere from 6 months to 2 years after achieving daytime dryness. A leakproof sheet or bed guard from the start means you are covered from day one without scrambling when an accident happens.
A leakproof fitted sheet replaces your regular fitted sheet entirely. It has a soft quilted top and a built-in waterproof backing, so the whole mattress surface is protected. A bed guard sits on top of your existing sheet and covers just the sleeping zone, held in place by tuck-in wings on either side. The fitted sheet gives more complete coverage. The bed guard is easier to swap mid-night because you can pull it off and replace it quickly without remaking the whole bed.
The Single size holds up to 1000 mL, the King Single holds up to 1300 mL, and the Double holds up to 1550 mL. Bed guards hold between 500 mL (Semi Single) and 1000 mL (Single and Double). All sizes are well above a typical wee from a toilet-training child, so you are covered for bigger accidents overnight.
No. The top layer is quilted polyester with 300gsm padding, so it feels like a proper fitted sheet. The waterproof backing is silent TPU, which means no plastic noise when your child moves around in their sleep. The bamboo blend top on the Semi Single bed guard is even softer, making it a good option for younger children or sensitive sleepers.
Leakproof fitted sheets come in Single, King Single, and Double. Bed guards come in Semi Single (140 x 100 cm, suits cots and single beds), Single (140 x 210 cm), and Double (165 x 220 cm). If your child is in a toddler bed or cot, start with the Semi Single bed guard. For a standard single bed, the Single fitted sheet or Single bed guard both work well.
Machine wash in cold or warm water and tumble dry on low or line dry. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners as both can damage the waterproof layer over time. The sheets and guards are designed for regular washing and should hold up well through the entire toilet training period and beyond.
Every child is different. Most achieve consistent nighttime dryness somewhere between 3 and 6 years old, though some take longer. Bed-wetting up to age 7 is considered normal. A leakproof sheet or bed guard takes the stress out of the wait, so accidents are quick to deal with and the mattress stays protected no matter how long it takes.
